Department of Biotechnolgy

Department of Biotechnolgy was created by Government of India under the Ministry of Science and Technology in 1986. The mandate of DBT is to promote and accelerate the pace of development of Biotechnolgy in the country. DBT is funding several significant projects in the field of modern biology and biotechnology.It has made significant achievement in the growth and application of biotechnology in the broad areas of agriculture,health care, animal sciences, environment , and industry. DBT has funded the R&D projects in the following projects:

Manpower Development Programme
